Pawdex Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 27, 2026

Pawdex is a pet-sitting organizer for iPhone. This policy explains what information the app handles and where it goes. The short version: your data stays on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We never see it. A few features you choose to use hand specific details to Apple or to another app you pick; each one is described below.

What Pawdex stores

Pawdex stores only the information you enter while using the app:

Where it's stored

What we collect

Nothing. Pawdex contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party software development kits, and nothing you enter is ever sent to us. The app connects to the internet only for Apple services — iCloud sync, and Apple Maps for address suggestions and mileage estimates — and to open a link or another app when you tap one.

Maps and mileage

When you type in an address field — a household, critter, or vet address, or your home base — Pawdex shows suggestions from Apple Maps, so the address you save is complete and correctly formatted. What you type there is sent to Apple as you type, and for the vet address it can also match clinics by name; picking a clinic fills in its address, and its phone number if you left that blank. If you add a home base, Pawdex also asks Apple Maps for the driving distance from it to a household when you book a visit. To do that, your home base and that household's address are sent to Apple, which handles them under Apple's privacy policy. Leave the home base empty and no distances are looked up; ignore the suggestions and any address you type is saved exactly as typed. Tapping an address opens it in the maps app you choose in Settings — Apple Maps, or Google Maps, in which case the address goes to Google.

Calendar

Calendar sync is off until you turn it on in Settings, and then asks for calendar access. Pawdex writes an event for each recent and upcoming visit into the calendar you pick: the visit name (which includes pet names), its time, the household's address, and its notes and checklist. It reads that calendar only to find the events it added, so it can update or remove them. If the calendar belongs to an account such as Google or Outlook, those events are stored by that provider under its privacy policy. Turning sync off removes the events Pawdex added.

Payments

Pawdex doesn't process payments and never sees card or bank logins. When you send a payment request, the message contains the payment methods you added, and links for Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App open that app or website with the amount filled in. The payment itself happens in that service, between you and your client, under its own terms. Payments and tips you record in Pawdex are notes for your own bookkeeping.

Website analytics

The Pawdex app contains no analytics, and that isn't changing. This website (paw-dex.app) is different in one narrow way: it uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful — page views, approximate region, and how visitors found the site. That measurement uses cookies set by Google and is covered by Google's privacy policy. It sees nothing from inside the app: your pets, visits, earnings and codes stay on your iPhone and in your iCloud, invisible to us and to Google alike.

Face ID, Touch ID, and passcode

Entry codes and Wi-Fi passwords are hidden until you unlock them with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Authentication is performed entirely by iOS; Pawdex only receives a yes-or-no answer and never has access to your biometric data.

Camera and photos

Pawdex asks for camera access only when you choose to take a photo on a visit. Photos you pick from your library come through Apple's photo picker, so Pawdex sees only the photos you choose. Pawdex saves an image to your photo library only when you choose to save a shared report card. Photos you attach are downsized and stay with your data, as described above.

Notifications

Visit reminders are scheduled locally on your device and show the visit name. iCloud sync uses silent background notifications from Apple; these contain no personal information.

Sharing, import, and export

Nothing is shared unless you share it. Report cards and payment requests sent by text message, images or files sent through the share sheet, and exported earnings CSVs and year-end CSV and PDF reports go only to the recipients and apps you choose. When you import clients, Pawdex reads only the CSV file you pick. If you email support from the app, the message includes your app version, iOS version, and iPhone model, which you can see and edit before sending.

Your clients' information

Pawdex is a tool for you to keep notes about the homes and pets you care for. You are responsible for having your clients' permission to record their information, and it is protected in the same way as everything else: on your device and in your private iCloud, inaccessible to us. Address suggestions, mileage estimates, and calendar sync share addresses and visit details as described above.

Deleting your data

Delete any pet, household, visit, payment, or expense inside the app and its records — including stored codes in the Keychain — are removed; deleting a household removes its pets. Turning off calendar sync removes the events Pawdex added, and clearing your home base clears it on all your devices. To erase everything, delete the app and remove Pawdex's iCloud data in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. Step-by-step help is on the support page.

Children

Pawdex is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Since Pawdex collects nothing, changes are unlikely to be more than clarifications or descriptions of new features.
